Making your own Reed Diffuser Oil is very easy and the possibilities are endless. You can customize the scent to suit your needs and compliment your needs. They are a beautiful unobtrusive way to add a light fragrance to your home or office.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Essential oils or synthetic fragrance oils
  • Fragrance Grade Dipropylene glycol or Reed diffuser oil base
  • Small bottle with cap
  • Measuring cup
  • Perfumer's alcohol (optional)
  1. Step 1

Purchase your items at a craft store. Be creative with the oils and think about mixing different oils together. The possibilities are endless so use your imagination.

  2. Step 2

Gather items in kitchen. I recommend working over the sink for easy clean up.

  3. Step 3

Pour 1 ounce of Essential oil or synthetic fragrance oil into your bottle. If you are mixing different oils, make sure the total amount is 1 ounce.

  4. Step 4

Add 2 1/4 ounces of Fragrance Grade Dipropylene glycol or Reed diffuser oil base to your bottle.

  5. Step 5

    Cap bottle and shake gently.

  6. Step 6

Check the consistency. Add 1/4 ounce of Perfumer's alcohol if the mixture is to thick. If your mixture is to thick the reeds will not be able to absorb the fragrance.

  7. Step 7

Pour the finished product into your Reed Diffuser and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Make your reed diffuser oil with about 30% - 40% Essential oils or Synthetic Fragrance oils and about 60% - 70% dipropylene glycol or reed diffuser base oil if you are making larger amounts.
  • For a stronger "store bought" fragrance I recommend using the Synthetic Fragrance Oils

on 8/16/2009 I love these things, the problem is my son keeps pouring them out, so I have gone with flameless scented candles.
