Download the latest version of Joomla. Go to the Joomla website (References), and click the "Download" link at the top of the page. Download the zip file for the latest version of Joomla and use WinZip (References) to unzip the contents into a new folder.

Upload the files to your web hosting account. Use an FTP program, such as FileZilla (References) to upload all of the Joomla files to your server. Connect to FTP using the user name and password for your web host. Once you connect to the server, upload a copy of all the files that you downloaded from Joomla.

Set up a database that your dating website can use to store and retrieve information. Log into the control panel for your web hosting account, and scroll down to the "Databases" section. Create a new MySQL Database and a new MySQL User. Give the user all-access permission to the database. Do not worry about adding data. Joomla will do that automatically. Just make note of the database name, user name and password.

Run the installation program for the Joomla Content Management System. Since the files have been uploaded to your web server, all you have to do is go to the website, and the installation program will begin automatically. You will be asked to input the site name, database name, database user and password. When finished, return to your FTP program, and delete the "installation" folder from the server.

Install the Community Builder component for Joomla. Go to the Joomlapolis website (Resources) and click the "Download" link for Community Builder. After downloading the zip files, log into your website as the administrator and go to Extensions > Install/Uninstall. Browse your way to the Community Builder zip file, and click install. Joomla will handle the rest. Adding Community Builder allows members of your dating site to connect with each other.

Apply a template to your dating website. The template basically does nothing other than serve as the visual aspect of your site. It is what makes the website look good, and it helps if it is professionally developed. There are a number of template sites on the market that specialize in Joomla Community Builder templates.
