Batteries are the lifeblood of video camcorders. Without a charged battery, the camera would simply be a fancy, expensive paperweight. Of course, a battery will eventually run down its charge. Most video camcorder batteries are rechargable and can gain their power back by being plugged in to a wall outlet. It is always a good idea though to have extra camcorder batteries with you, especially if your someplace where it is impossible to get to a wall outlet.

Instructions

    Going to the store

  1. Step 1

Remove the battery from the camcorder and bring it with you. You can show it to a store attendant if you can't find it on the store's shelves.

  2. Step 2

Go to a local electronics store. Look in the camcorder section. The batteries will most likely be in the same area.

  3. Step 3

Find a battery that has the same product number on it. This will ensure it is the correct battery. Oftentimes different brands of video cameras use different types of batteries.

  4. Step 4

Purchase the battery from the cashier at the store.

  5. Online

  6. Step 1

Visit the camcorder's brand website (such as Sony or Philips). They have every battery available for your particular camera. There is a website (see resources) that specializes in selling camcorder batteries. On the website, you can search the cameras by name brand.

  7. Step 2

Select the battery for your camera and select "Add to Cart" followed by "Checkout."

  8. Step 3

Fill out all your purchasing and shipping information when prompted.

  9. Step 4

Review your order to make sure everything is correct (from the product to the shipping address).

  10. Step 5

Submit the order. You'll receive a confirmation email from the website a short time later.
