Things You'll Need:
- 1000mg of Ginger Root in capsule form.
-
Step 1
TAKE 1000mg OF GINGER ROOT 1/2 hour to 1 hour before boarding the plane.
Many people with motion sickness during flight also experience occasional indigestion or bloating and may already be using antacid.
Ginger root improves digestion and gastrointestinal health.
Ginger root also helps to stabilize the equilibrium and reduce the sensation of dizziness. This makes all the difference in your flight!
Use ginger root in the dry powdered form in capsules to assure rapid assimilation into the blood stream. I use Nature's Way Ginger Root in capsule form. Each cap is 550mg and I take two or three of these before any flight with a lot of maneuvers.
Ginger is all natural and the benefits for life are all positive, so you can't go wrong, and I've never experienced motion sickness since taking it. I'm amazed at how many pilots in training have never heard of this remedy because it really works! -
Step 2
ADJUST YOUR AIRFLOW & OPEN THE VENTS.
Motion sickess in flight is caused by conflicting signals between what your body is feeling and what your mind is percieving.
You may be sitting still in a cabin with little or no view, so your mind percieves stillness. But your body is moving at high speed and feeling Gs at every turn.
Therefore, during flight you will need to help your mind experience the motion that your body is feeling.
If you start to feel motion sickness coming on, immediately open the cool air vents as much as possible, and let it rush over your face. This sends the signal to your mind that you are moving.
Compliment the cool air flow with deep breathing, but NOT hyperventalating.
If you have an upset stomach, you may discretely burp to relieve pressure and discomfort.
If you have already applied step one, you may never have to take this step, but it's good to add in regardless to maximize your comfort. -
Step 3
KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE "ROAD" AHEAD.
Focus your eyes in the direction of travel. Looking off to the side in foward flight too long sends conflicting signals to your body. If you're a passenger, take a window seat and enjoy the view. This too, unites body and mind and makes for a much more pleasant flying experience.
