How to Make Oxtails and Potatoes

In this article you will learn how to make a dish that is very delicious, especially if you like southern food. This recipe is very good when it is made with side dishes such as collard greens, cabbage, sweet potatoes, and/or dressing. This recipe is different, but it is very good. Enjoy!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 pack of oxtails
  • 4 large potatoes, chopped
  • 1 large pot for boiling
  • 1/4 of an onion, sliced and cut
  • salt and pepper
  1. Step 1

    Open both packages of oxtails and clean them in cold water.

  2. Step 2

    Peel and slice and dice onion and set aside.

  3. Step 3

    Peel and cut potatoes and set aside in a bowl.

  4. Step 4

    In a large pot, add water (enough to cover the oxtails and the potatoes) and bring to a boil. Add the oxtails to the water and allow them to cook for 3-4 hours.

  5. Step 5

    When the oxtails are 3/4 of the way done, add potatoes to the water and allow them to cook along with the oxtails.

  6. Step 6

    When oxtails and potatoes are done, add onions and allow them to cook until they are softened.

  7. Step 7

    Salt and pepper to taste. Serve while hot.

Tips & Warnings
  • To set this meal off, bake cornbread or fry some cornbread patties.
