How to Roast or Toast Nuts in the Oven

Pecans and other shelled nuts toast nicely in the oven.

Roasted nuts are tasty on their own as a snack or as an addition in many recipes. Toasting brings out the flavor of nuts, and because they have their own oil, you don’t have to add any oil during the process. Most types of shelled nuts can be easily roasted in the oven in minutes.

• Cookie sheet

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2. Spread nuts in a single layer on an ungreased cookie sheet. Make the nuts a similar size so they toast at the same rate.

3. Put cookie sheet in pre-heated oven and roast for about 10 minutes until nuts are golden brown. Roasting time varies depending on the size of the nuts. Turn the nuts half way through the roasting time.
