Tired of getting stuck with pins while hand sewing the binding on your quilts or other sewing projects? Here is a tried and true way to help you out!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut your binding strips to desired width and length

  2. Step 2

Machine stitch your binding (right sides together) to your project.

  3. Step 3

Fold and press binding strip open

  4. Step 4

Flip your project and turn raw edge back (wrong side to wrong side) approximately 1/2", be sure to press fabric down.

  5. Step 5

Fold binding strip over so that the newly pressed edge overlaps your project and lighly press.

  6. Step 6

Place your piece of stich witchery under the folded over binding and press with a hot dry iron to activate the adhesive.

Repeat on all sides of your project.

  7. Step 7

Now you can hand finish your project without getting stuck with pins or loosing pins on the floor. The best part of this is that the stitch witchery becomes very soft after washing and eventually wears away.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure to use a medium hot DRY iron.
  • Be careful not to get your fingers too close to the iron! I learned the hard way after burning myself several times.
