Here is a simple way to make white rice that turns out perfect every time.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cups dry white rice
  • 4 cups of either water or chicken broth depending on which you prefer
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 8qt oven proof pot
  1. Step 1

Place 8qt pot on stove top with 4 cups of either water or chicken broth and turn to a high heat.

  2. Step 2

Add 2 cups of rice and tsp of salt to the both and stir well.

  3. Step 3

Pre heat oven to 350 degrees.

  4. Step 4

When liquid begins to boil, stir the rice well once again, then remove from heat.

  5. Step 5

Immediately place cover on pot and place in the oven.

  6. Step 6

Keep pot in the oven for 25-30 minutes. Do not open oven during the cooking process.

  7. Step 7

Very carefully, remove pot from oven.

  8. Step 8

Use a pot holder or oven mitt to remove the cover from the pot of rice after it comes out of the oven. The handle will be extremely hot! Also remember to keep your face away from the pot when removing the cover as a large amount of steam will escape.

  9. Step 9

    Stir rice well and serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use chicken broth instead of water for a more flavorful rice.
  • Remove the salt from the recipe if on a low sodium diet.
  • You can add peas, small cut pieces of broccoli or carrots and other vegetables to spice up this recipe. Be sure to add the vegetables at the same time as you add the rice to the boiling liquid.
  • Do not let small children near the pot after removing it from the oven. The pot will be extremely hot and could produce severe burns.
