As Facebook continues to grow, users are finding additional options to network and share ideas. One such option is a Facebook group. Any Facebook user can form a group to share information with a small group of people -- family members, hobbyists, coworkers, teammates, club members and enthusiasts of all types. Facebook groups provide a platform for members with a common interest to come together and discuss a specific topic, hobby or other interest.

Tips & Warnings

  • With three types of groups to select, the administrator has total control over who can see and participate in a group. Open groups can be seen and joined by anyone on Facebook. With Closed groups, all Facebook users can see the name and member list of the group, but only the members of the group can see the content. A Secret group cannot be found by searching. Its name and member list is private and it does not show up on member profiles.
