This is the recipe to make your own homemade english muffins

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 tbsp dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 1/4 cup of warm milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 cups flour all purpose
  • 1 tsp salt
  1. Step 1

    First blend your yeast and your sugar with half of your warm milk. Set aside until fluffy, about 7 minutes.

  2. Step 2

    With the rest of your warm milk, mix in your egg and butter. In another bowl pour your flour and your salt together. Add the yeast and the egg mixtures and stir until it forms dough.

  3. Step 3

    On a floured surface, pour out your dough. Knead lightly for 4 minutes.

  4. Step 4

    Place your dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let sit for about an hour and a half until the dough is doubled in size.

  5. Step 5

    Preheat oven to 450. Roll your dough out on a floured surface and roll out leaving it about 1 inch thick. Using a round cookie cutter, cut out as many muffins as you can.

  6. Step 6

    Place on a greased baking sheet and bake for 7 minutes. Turn them over and bake on the other side for another 7 minutes.

  7. Step 7

    Let cool serve and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Good for egg mcmuffins
  • Add jelly or butter for a toast taste
