Step 1
Chocolate chunk granola bars are a delicious and nutritious way to satisfy a chocolate craving. They are low in fat and will provide you with a quick burst of energy for active sports. To up the nutritious ante, opt for a fiber bar with a drizzling of chocolate.
-
Step 2
Instead of drinking a shake with high-fat ice cream, choose chocolate milk with fat-free milk instead. You can still get your chocolate drink fix, but without exceeding your desired calorie intake. If you need that slushy consistency, try putting the chocolate milk in a blender with some ice cubes and a little vanilla yogurt.
-
Step 3
Instead of making a huge chocolate cake and loading it with frosting, try eating chocolate pudding for dessert. With fat-free milk, it has about 90 calories and one gram of fat for 4 oz. If you're on a strict diet, they even offer fat-free, sugar free, low-calorie pudding.
-
Step 4
If you've been trying to eat yogurt every day to stay healthy and you're just getting sick of it, spice it up. Add 15 or so chocolate chips to improve the consistency, or stir in a 1/2 teaspoon of chocolate frosting to strawberry yogurt to reminisce about those chocolate-covered strawberry days you used to enjoy.
-
Step 5
Instead of piling ice cream into a bowl after dinner, make a cup of hot chocolate. Even if you top it with a dollop of whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup, you're still reducing your fat and calorie intake, and you'll lose weight.
-
Step 6
If you regularly indulge in a big bar of chocolate while watching a movie, choose reduced-fat kettlecorn popcorn (you won't notice it's lower in fat) and drizzle it with a little melted chocolate. You can heat the chocolate in a glass measuring cup in the microwave, just add a few drops of oil to it and stir it before putting it on the popcorn. It will make it the perfect sweet treat!

on 9/8/2009 I did find that if I had enough calcium and magnesium I don't crave chocolate as often. But really, your ideas are incredibly helpful! Sometimes you just like a little taste and don't have to blow your diet!
