Step 1
Practice playing a turntable by first playing a fun Flash game called Virtual Turntable, which can be found at AmpGames.com and other free online gaming websites (see Resources).
-
Step 2
Enter your nickname and the press the "Enter" key on your keyboard. Add records for beats by clicking on the records and then add more records to mix and scratch by clicking on them with your mouse.
-
Step 3
Use the turntable simulator created for the school of physics at Edinburgh University to see how time frames work in a turntable (see Resources). This is great practice for understanding the scratching movements that should be made when using a turntable, and will be helpful for those who are serious about learning to be a DJ. Simply move the scrolling bars for each equation to gain momentum and scratch back and fourth on the turntable.

Step 4
Download free professional DJ simulator software, such as Virtual Deck 2.0 and OtsTurntables (see Resources). These programs will allow you to mix your own songs that you upload onto your computer. For example, you can have two different songs playing at the same time and be able to scratch the virtual records.
