How to Buy Cheap Flights Using The Internet

There are many websites to choose from these days for buying airline tickets online. Each one claims to offer you the best price available but none of them tells you WHEN is the best time to buy cheap airline tickets.

Instructions

1. All airlines generally decide on their upcoming airfare prices on a Tuesday evening. Thus, the best time to buy an airplane ticket would be Wednesday morning at 12:01am when these new prices become available.

2. Log onto your favorite airfare website at this time and choose the dates of your flight that you wish to take. For an even better rate, choose the "flexible dates" option to select from all prices between your origin and destination. Travelocity is great for this option.

3. If you choose the "flexible dates" range then see all of the prices available and select your airline to see which dates are available for these prices.

4. Continue trying different price ranges and remember that flights are generally cheapest for a Tues, Wed or Thurs departure (or arrival). There are only a certain number of seats available at the newly introduced low prices and so they may all sell out by Wed afternoon.

Tips & Warnings

• If you are extremely flexible with your departure/arrival dates then try using Priceline to choose your own price for your trip. Note that you cannot see the exact time of departure/arrival before agreeing to the price and so this may include a red-eye flight.
• Travelzoo is a good website to check for daily flight deals but they may not update their list with the best deals at 12:01am Wednesday morning. It may take them until late Wednesday morning to update their website.
