Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • paper towel or a clean small rag maybe a stool or step ladder
  1. Step 1

This article is mainly for the ladies. First of all make sure that your vehicle is absolutely off. I know that there are a lot of women who do not know or just do not want to check their vehicles motor oil. Unfortunately, this is essential for your automobile to perform. Sometimes there isn't a man around to do this. Maybe your not near to a service station. Therefore I suggest you follow these steps in case you do have to be the one to check your automobiles fluids.

  2. Step 2

If you have a car then (depending on your height) you would not need a stool or step ladder. I recommend those if you have a truck like myself. If you have the owners manual guide to your car than that would be very helpful because there will be illustrations on where to find certain things under the hood. If you do not have the owners manual then open your hood and look for a top that will usually say oil and it tells you what type of oil to use. Please do not use any other oil except for the one that is recommended or you will face big problems. In some automobiles there may be a picture of an oil can. If you are absolutely not sure look online and you can get a better look. Another option would be to call a service station or a car dealerships and they too can assist you in finding the engine oil section.

  3. Step 3

Once you have located the oil area you will notice that there is a stick that actually comes out, in my truck there is a round loop. Before inserting the oil you will need to check to see the fluid level. Pull the rod or stick what ever you want to call it and wipe it with a clean cloth or clean paper towel. The reason why this must be clean is so that you do not put any foreign objects into your engine.

  4. Step 4

Here is where you should notice at the tip a level that lets you know how much oil you need if any. If you insert this back into its compartment and it is dry then there is no oil in your car. If there is some oil look closely at the tip and it will tell you how much oil you will need.

  5. Step 5

Put the rod back. If you do need to insert oil than twist off the top of the knob that has the oil can or words or picture and put the needed oil into that reservoir. Ladies after putting the rod back in its place put the knob back on properly and close the hood to your car. Immediately wash your hand with soap and water or if that is not handy than use some type of Purell. I hope that this will aide you in case you have to check for your motor oil.
