Make Seashell Crafts: Magnetic Seashell Clothespin Note Clip

Seashells and a few basic craft supplies make up this cute and useful note clip for any magnetic surface. It's so easy that even kids can make them if you use white craft glue in place of the hot glue gun. These make useful gifts to help someone, or yourself, stay organized.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • wooden clothespin
  • small seashells
  • teal colored acrylic paint
  • optional: hot glue gun and glue
  • white glue such as tacky glue, or E6000 glue
  • round or flat magnets
  • optional: cardboard box lid to hold hot glue gun
  • waxed paper, recycled waxed cereal box liner or recycled styrofoam tray
  • paint brush
  1. Step 1

On a piece of waxed paper or recycled styrofoam tray, place a small amount of Teal acrylic Paint, and add a few drops of white acrylic paint and stir with your paint brush.

  2. Step 2

Paint your clothes pins with the paint and let dry. You may have to do this is stages, to flip the clothes pin over and paint the opposite side.

  3. Step 3

With a glue gun, tacky glue, or E6000 Industrial strength glue, attach a magnet to the back of the clothes pin and allow to dry. You can buy these in different shapes and sizes at you local retail stores, in the craft aisles or at larger craft supply stores. Simply cut flat magnets to fit or use round ones. Allow the glue to dry.

  4. Step 4

Place tacky glue on the top side of the clothes pin, allowing about a 1/2 inch to be free of glue at the top (where you would press to open the clothes pin).

  5. Step 5

Starting with larger seashells gently press into the glued area. Add smaller shells, and sprinkle with sand to any remaining glue.

Allow to dry completely before giving as gifts or using. These are wonderful for any magnetic surface.
