Step 1
Put double sided tape to the area where the cat scratches the furniture. The sticky side will give the cat an unpleasant feeling when he tries to scratch. Do not use double sided tape if it will harm the furniture.
-
Step 2
Trim your cat's nails with a gentle pet trimmer. Keeping them trimmed to help your furniture from the cat's scratches. If you don't want to do this yourself, ask the veterinarian to do it. Nails grow, so you will have to do this consistently.
If you do not want to trim their nails, you can also use nail caps to cover up their individual claws. -
Step 3
Place a cat scratch post near the furniture that the car keeps scratching. Add cat nip to the scratch post to attract the cat.

Step 4
When the cat scratches the furniture, remove him immediately and place him on the scratch post.
