How to Install TimberTech
TimberTech is a manufacturer of low-maintenance and high-quality composite material products, including railing, fencing and deck lighting. Once you've decided that TimberTech is the type of composite decking you want to install outside your home, you must decide all of the deck features that you want to include. It's possible to install a TimberTech deck yourself, but it's highly recommended by the company to have a professional install the deck to avoid any future problems caused by incorrect installation. Go to the TimberTech website and click on the "Installation" option from the top of the screen (see References). Click on the "Installation Resources" option and choose the a video or guide that suits the installation that you'll be performing.

Click on the "Decking and DrySpace" option for an example of the installation process. Make sure to read through all of the sections concerning safety, directional brushing, cantilevering, and static electricity before you begin installing.

Read through the fastening methods. For example, for fascia boards you'll need 1 1/2-inch stainless steel nails, and for solid planks you need #8.x.2-1/2-inch nails. Make sure you have all of the correct type and size of nails and fasteners before you begin installing the deck. Start by following the instructional booklet provided with your TimberTech deck purchase for hammering and drilling down each section.

Install the stairs after you're finished laying down the walking portion of the deck. Refer to your manual and watch instructional videos online for tips on how to properly install TimberTech stairs (See Resources). The installation for the stairs includes installing the first plank, by drilling in the nails into the support; positioning and installing the CONCEALoc fasteners, by inserting the fasteners in the grooved edge of the plank using the drill; and completing the installation, by adding all of the other step planks (See References).

Continue installation by trimming and following the tips for care and cleaning of the deck after installation. Check every inch of your completed deck and inspect it for safety. Read through your installation manual once again to make sure everything you did followed the manual correctly.
