How to Disable a Synaptics Touchpad
Laptop computers come with a touchpad mouse that allows you to control the pointer by moving your finger across the touchpad. The Synaptics Pointing Device is a touchpad brand used in laptop brands such as HP and Toshiba. While typing, you may accidentally touch the touchpad and, in doing so, inadvertently move your cursor to another area of the screen. To avoid this inconvenience, you can disable the Synaptics Touchpad through your computer's mouse and pointing device settings.

Right-click on the system tray icon at the bottom right corner of the screen. If you do not see the icon, click "Start," select "Control Panel," choose "Hardware and Sound" and click "Device Manager" under the Devices and Printers section. Open the "Mice and Other Pointing Devices" selection.

Right-click the Synaptics Touchpad and select "Disable" or "Uninstall." If you uninstall, it will disable the hardware until you install it again or until you restart your computer and Windows detects it and installs it.

Tips & Warnings
Connect a USB mouse to your laptop before disabling the touchpad so that you will still have control of your pointer.

I just wanted to give an easier/faster way of reaching the 'DEVICE MANAGER'. Go to the 'My Computer' icon on your desktop, right click it, and go to 'Properties' at the bottom of the menu... select the 'Hardware' tab, and click the 'Device Manager' button at the top of the dialog. There you have it... now go to the device you are trying to reach.
