How to Change the Aspect Ratio on an ATI Video Card

You might want to change the aspect ratio on your ATI video card to play videos or games on a computer. The aspect ratio is the ratio of the width to the height of the video playback. To change the aspect ratio on an ATI video card, the ATI Catalyst Control Center utility is needed. The Catalyst Control Center is a driver and graphics card utility program freely available from ATI. The software is compatible with current models of ATI video cards.

Things You'll Need

• Computer with an ATI video card
• ATI Catalyst Control Center utility application

Instructions

1. Download and install the ATI Catalyst Control Center. (See References.)

2. Click the Windows "Start" button.

3. Click the "Control Panel" option in the context menu.

4. Click the ATI Catalyst Control Center icon in the Control Panel window.

5. Click the "Video" option under the General Settings title on the left side of the ATI interface.

6. Click the "Theater Mode" sub-option under the Video option.

7. Click "Set Aspect Ratio" under the Theater Mode subcategory. For television, 4:3 is the standard aspect ratio, while for movies the standard ratio is 16:9.

8. Click "OK" to save aspect ratio settings.
