How to Repair Scuffed Alloy
Scuffed alloy refers to the wheels on your automobile being scuffed due to curb-checking or some other miscellaneous damage to the rims. This typically happens when cars or trucks are parked too close to curbs and end up rubbing against them. Damage to alloy can be fixed; however, it is time intensive and requires sanding the surface of the wheel and repainting it.

- Rustoleum paint (your color choice)
- 600-grit sandpaper
- Newspaper
- Masking tape
- Clean rag
- Jack with jack stands
- Tire wrench
- Torque wrench

Loosen the wheel lug nuts by turning the lugs 45 degrees with a tire wrench.

Jack the vehicle off the ground using the jack points in the front of the vehicle. Place jack stands under the vehicle's front pinch welds and lower the vehicle onto the stands. Repeat this process for the rear wheels using the rear jack point and rear pinch welds.

Finish removing the lug nuts and pull the wheels off.

Section off the tire and any other areas you do not want painted.

Use sandpaper to smooth the surface of the alloy wheel.

Wipe off any debris with a clean rag.

Spray three coats of paint on the rim, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next.

Remove the newspaper and tape and put the alloy rims back on the wheel hub. Tighten the lug nuts.

Lower the vehicle to the ground and torque the lug nuts to 100 pound-feet.
