Apply the decals to your kitchen cabinets. Your own personal style will determine how many of these decals you apply. Generally, you should keep the pattern fairly subtle since the kitchen is small. For example, you might place some of the decals in the corners of each othe cabinet doors. However, if you prefer, you can plaster every cupboard surface with these decorations. It is entirely up to you. These will brighten up your kitchen, give it some personality and come off easily when you move out. You might also consider apples, chickens or checkers -- all also popular kitchen themes.

Put some throw rugs on the floor. These not only make the room a little brighter, but they are also very practical. Place one in front of the sink to catch spills, one in front of the stove to stop splatters and, if there is room, one in front of the fridge to stop drips. They will make your kitchen a cleaner place and make the area look a little larger and more organized.

Hang your favorite coffee mugs on cuphooks under the glass cupboard. This frees up space, but it also gives the kitchen a little more of your personality. Just screw a line or two of cuphooks into the wood underneath one of the cabinets and then hang your favorite cups on the hooks.

Use decorative glass jars to hold coffee, tea, flour or sugar. Since you probably have cannisters holding these things anyway, switch to some pretty glass. This will make your countertops look less cluttered and more like a deliberate, coherent statement. Some people also like to store pasta this way because it looks pretty in the glass jars, but generally there will be room for pasta in the cupboards and that way you do not have five or ten jars on your counter.

Add a plant. A single hanging plant can add life and style to your kitchen in no time. A fern mounted on the wall is a great way to add some color, light and life to your kitchen. Of course, if there is no natural light in your kitchen or if you have low ceilings, then this may not be an option.
