Use the internet or phone to do a bit of research as to what can be done in your area with an old waterbed mattress. Your local trash hauler might be able to give you some suggestions or your local recycling facility may have a plan for waterbed matresses. A local store that sells waterbeds can give you some ideas too, but you may only get them to take the mattress if you buy a new one. When dealing with the waterbed store, you should ask how they handle the old mattresses to make sure they are going to properly recycle them.
