Having a yard sale doesn't have to be all work and no fun. Planning is the key to having a successful and profitable yard sale.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin by separating all of your yard sale items into categories. Ex. Clothes, Toys, Knick-Knacks, Books, Movies, etc. You will want to organize the clothing into separate sections such as Men's Clothing, Women's and Children.

  2. Step 2

Mark your clothing according to what you think is reasonable. For a quite route, place signs on the tables of the prices. For example, "All Shirts $1, "All Toys 75 Cents Each", etc.

  3. Step 3

When setting up your tables, place them in a square, except leave one side of the square left open so that your shoppers can walk around the tables and not miss anything.

  4. Step 4

Place the big ticket items in the front, near the street. These are the things that really attract buyers. Placing them in the front will allow those driving by to easily see them and want to stop.

  5. Step 5

Remember to put an advertisement in your local paper so everyone will know when your sale is. Try to have it on a day when an event is going on in your town such as a festival. This will attract many buyers from in and out of town.
