Poison Oak/Ivy is a very annoying, spreadable skin irritation that some find difficult to get rid of.

But, I've got some tips that can help cut the irritation from weeks to only a few days.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Anti-Itch Cream/Spray/Gel for Poison Oak/Ivy
  • 2 Washcloths
  • Water
  • Clorox (Bleach)
  1. Step 1

First, I would consider putting on plastic gloves, then I would open the bleach and prepare to apply it to the irritated area.

  2. Step 2

Then, pour some bleach on the washcloth (hopefully one that you do not mind getting messed up) then apply it to the irritated area.

Hold there for about 30 seconds.

  3. Step 3

Remove the washcloth and let the area 'breathe' for another minutes or so.

  4. Step 4

Pour more bleach onto the washcloth and then lightly rub the washcloth along the irritated area.

  5. Step 5

Remove the washcloth again and set it aside.

Get the clean washcloth and pour water on it. Use it to remove any residue left on the irritated area.

  6. Step 6

Then, once the area has dried apply anti-itch cream, gel, or spray to the area to combat any itching that may occur to prevent spreading.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do this in an area that has good ventilation
  • Wear a painter's mask to avoid over inhalation of the bleach vapors
  • DO NOT apply this near eyes, nose, mouth, or ears as well as the genitalia or anal opening.
  • DO NOT allow the bleach to come in contact with fabrics, carpeting, etc. due to the chance of discoloration.
