How to Make a Blongo Ball

Blongo ball--also known as ladder ball or horse ball for the scoring rack's similarity to a ladder and the paired team system's similarity to horseshoe rules, respectively--is a fun activity to play at the beach or at a barbecue. It's easy to create a replacement blongo ball if one of your balls is lost.

Things You'll Need

  • Two foam balls, 2-inch diameter
  • 1/8-inch diameter rope, 2 feet long
  • Screwdriver

Instructions

    • 1

Bore a hole with the screwdriver through the center of one of the foam balls.

    • 2

Pass one end of the rope through the foam ball until 2 inches extend out the end. Use the screwdriver to help push the rope through.

    • 3

Tie the 2-inch end of rope in a double knot, tight to the foam ball.

    • 4

Tie the long end of the rope in a double knot, tight to the other end of the foam ball to secure it in place.

    • 5

Snip extra rope off the 2-inch end of the rope, leaving 1/2 inch or so above the knot.

    • 6

Repeat Steps 1 through 5 on the other end of the rope with the remaining foam ball.
