How to transfer gravesite ownership to another party.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Many Americans plan for their death as far as purchasing cemetery plots and putting certain wishes and requests in writing. In some cases, family plans may change and if a family gravesite has already been purchased it is possible to sell the plot and transfer ownership to another party.

  2. Step 2

Transferring ownership of a grave must be done between the owner and the purchaser. Basically, the financial part of the transaction is something that must be arranged between the two parties. The transfer of ownership must be documented and presented to the office that manages the graveyard.

  3. Step 3

The final transaction is not completed until the transfer of ownership paperwork is signed and submitted to the proper authority. An attorney can do these particular papers or you can do it yourself. basically, you have sold your gravesite to another person and you must legally deed or transfer the property to the rightful owner.
