Cleaning computer keyboard spills is easy!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Soft cloth (cotton)
  • Water
  • Mild household cleaner
  1. Step 1

Turn your keyboard upside down right away!

Shut down the computer (use the mouse).

    Unplug the keyboard.

  2. Step 2

Moisten your soft cloth. You should use cotton or something that's non scratching (a common clean dish cloth is fine) Run it under the sink and then wring it out well. It needs only to be moist. If it's dripping- it's too wet.

Spray the cloth with just a little bit of mild household cleaner (409 or Fantastic is fine but don't use a strong household cleaner- it can erase the lettering on your keys). One spray onto your cloth is all you need. Don't spray directly onto the keyboard.

Wipe the keyboard, keeping it upside down. Repeat if necessary.

  3. Step 3

Let it dry upside down overnight.

If it was a big spill, check back in about thirty minutes to wipe up any that puddled underneath. You should repeat the process if the puddle is sticky.

It's not necessary, but if you have a fan handy it would be good to keep the fan on it all night.

Tips & Warnings
  • For mild household cleaner, try 409 or Fantastic or equivalent.
  • Don't use a strong cleaner- it can erase the lettering from your keys.
