The more you make cornbread the better it becomes!!!!!!

Enjoy...

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Martha White's Mix, White Cornbread mix (not the yellow mix)
  • 1 egg
  • pinch of sugar
  • buttermilk
  • (or regular milk) or use both 1/2 of each
  • or if you do not have butter milk, regular milk is just as good.
  1. Step 1

    Preheat oven 350 degrees

  2. Step 2

Mix 1pkg. of Martha White's into bowl with one egg
Add buttermilk/or regular (or half in half)...just experiment with your taste.
The TRICK to Cornbread is not to have the mix to watery or to thick...
If in doubt just pour a little milk in at first..

  3. Step 3

Add all remaining ingredients such as the dash of sugar
stir with a spoon as my momma taught me no less than 50 to 100 times.

  4. Step 4

Now add Healthy Oil such as Corn oil into small 6 to 10 inch black skillet. Pour enough that it covers the entire skillet..This is very important step..get the oil very hot so when you pour the Cornbread mix into the skillet it browns for only a few minutes ON TOP OF THE STOVE-after browning-
Place skillet in oven and bake for 20 min. at 350
Your family is going to love this with a bowl of homemade vegetable soup..enjoy..
