Trout fishing with live mullet is a great way to catch big trout. Following a few easy steps you can catch larger and more trout.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fishing Pole and Reel
  • 18-24" 25 lb test mono filament
  • Swivel
  • Hook
  • Live Mullet
  1. Step 1

First construct the trout fishing rig to catch the fish. Do this by attaching one end of the 18-24" mono filament line to the swivel.

Next, tie the hook onto the other end of your mono filament trout rig.

  3. Step 3

Now tie the swivel from your trout fishing rig to your the line on your fishing pole, I prefer 12 lb test on my reel for trout fishing to feel the bight better and catch more trout.

  4. Step 4

Select the location you will fish. Trout like to stay around structures such as boat docks, bridges, and oyster bars. They also like to chase schools of bait fish. Fishing near one of these will greatly increase the amount of trout you will catch.

  5. Step 5

Put a live mullet onto your hook. Make sure the mullet is alive and active after you hook it if you want to catch more trout. Trout like live bait.

  6. Step 6

Cast your line out and allow the mullet to swim as best as possible along the top portion of the water. When trout bite they will do so fairly hard. Do not wait long to set the hook with medium pressure to catch the fish.

  7. Step 7

Now reel in your fresh trout and get ready to catch another by beginning at step 5.
