Staying Mobile these days is essential, and having the right online backup tools is critical. With the advent of "Netbooks" such as the Acer One, and the Asus EEE that come with a small 8GB hard drive, online backup or storage is essential.

Enter Syncplicity (see the link in the resources section below). An online live-as-you-create backup solution that keeps everything that you have in the folders that you select, backed up and current... The best part is that you don't have to manually start the backup. The Syncplicity Client that you download for free watches the folder and will start a backup as soon as you change something!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A Syncplicity.com account - 2GB free signup
  • Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 Computer
  • Ability to download the Sync client
  1. Step 1

    Assuming that you signed up for services, click the "install" link at the top of the dashboard to install the Syncplicity Client application. You'll first need to select the folders that you want to back up. Since you only get 2GB free, you'll want to select your most used, most needed, and most valuable document folders.

    Choose the "Add a new folder" link on the left side, third down from top. This pops open a window that shows the contense of your computer. Select the folder that you want to Sync, and select "OK"

    After you select the OK at the bottom of the Main Syncplicity window, your online backup will begin. This can take time, so it is best to do this when you are sleeping or when you do not need your computer.

    When you are away from your computer, go to Syncplicity's website, and log in.

    On your main dashboard, you have access to all your files. Go to the folder that you want and left click on the file. The download window pops up and now you can save to your desktop.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can save .RAR or .ZIP files to save space!
  • You can share your files with associates and friends
