Many people are looking for a job they can work from home and have time for family. Seeking a job where you can work in the comfort of your own home and avoiding getting scammed at the same time is really hard these days. When you search on the internet, millions of results show up but alot of them are scams. So how and where can you find legitimate jobs that you can work from home?

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet
  • Resume
  • Time
  • Common Sense
  1. Step 1

First rule everyone needs to know is: You should NEVER have to pay to get a job. If any "company" or site is asking for payment, exit immediately because it is a scam. Think about it, you're not asked to pay anything to get a bricks and mortar job so why would it make sense to pay anyone to get any job.
A great place to search for true work at home positions are forums dedicated to providing leads, support and discussion of work at home or WAH jobs. I have listed in the Resources section a couple of forums that will help you find and get more information about what jobs are out there and how to apply.
Register for the sites and get involved in the discussions. Check out the job leads and begin applying for jobs.

  2. Step 2

Alot of WAH jobs are phone-based Customer Service or Sales type positions. There's also transcription, freelance writing and other non-phone positions such as text guide. There are adult-oriented work at home positions as well. I've listed in Resources a link to a forum providing job leads and info on these types of jobs also.
Dust off your resume and be prepared to send it off to various companies. You will also need to fill out applications and take tests for most of the work from home positions available. The difference between applying for WAH jobs and B&M[bricks & mortar] jobs is the competition and waiting period. Since you are competing with those all around the country and not just in your city, the time in which you hear back from the company about your application may be longer and you also always have to act fast when a new lead arises.
Be aware that with some WAH jobs you will be hired as an employee and some you may be hired as an independent contractor. This mean the company will not withhold taxes and you will be responsible for paying taxes quarterly.

  3. Step 3

Writing for E-How and other sites is another great way to earn income from home. Try exploring many options and see which ones work for you and enjoy saving money on gas, clothing, lunches...etc.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't give up! It's hard out there for everyone to find jobs but you WILL find one, don't worry.
  • Revisit your resume and make sure it is updated and really shows off your qualifications.
  • If you get a phone-based WAH job, having any background noise is a no-no. So arrangements will need to be made for young children and pets.
