How to pass the CISSP exam
Professional Certifications can open doors in your career. They require an investment in time and are somewhat expensive to obtain. ISC2 offers what is recognized as the most prestigious credential in the security industry today: certification as an information systems security professional. The six-hour CISSP exam typically is offered only a few times a year in any given city.

Obtain a copy of the "Official (ISC)2 Guide to the CISSP CBK" from ISC2 Press. The 1,000+ page guide discusses each of the 10 knowledge domains on the CISSP exam.

Seek an instructor-led CISSP boot camp to prepare for the exam. The book can be overwhelming — unlikely if not impossible for the average professional to tackle without assistance. Choose a training program in which the teacher is CISSP-certified.

Try to schedule the class so that it immediately precedes the exam, which will be given on a weekend.

Clear your schedule and give the class your full focus. If possible, arrange to stay at the hotel where the class will be given so that you may focus your studies in the evening and minimize the time spent commuting each day.

During classes, use standard index cards to build a flash card study inventory, writing a term on the front and any brief definitions or notes on the back. Capture all terms that come up in each domain. At the end you should have several hundred cards to study.

Review your cards each evening. Take the sample tests at the end of each domain and at the end of the course. Take the practice exam until you can confidently get obtain a passing score.

Follow these tips during the week and especially on the day of the exam:
Get plenty of rest;
eat healthy;
avoid excess alcohol and caffeine; and
take walks or get some exercise each day. -

Take healthy food to eat during the six-hour exam. Avoid candy. Instead pack fruit, a sandwich or crackers. Avoid sugary sodas. Drink water or non-caffenated sports drinks.
