Step 1
FIGURE OUT WHY THEY DID WHAT THEY DID.
You don't need counseling service to figure this out. Just put yourself in their shoes and imagine why in the world they would do what they did. How could you imagine yourself doing the same thing? It is key to get into your enemy's mind if you are going to get under their skin. -
Step 2
EXCHANGE HOT EMOTIONS FOR WARM EMOTIONS.
You can't serve cold revenge when you are burning inside. Exchange hatred, anger, rage, spite, and jealousy for compassion, empathy, and pity. This is a key step. It may take some time. But imagine your enemy as a weak person. After all, what they did to you probably showed weakness not strength. -
Step 3
CHANGE YOUR IDEA OF REVENGE.
If revenge is 'getting even' then it will go in an unending cycle. As Ghandi put it if we all lived by an eye for an eye, it would leave the whole world blind. Your real desire, deep down usually, in revenge is to make the person sorry for what they did. Get that squarely in your mind. You want that person to feel sorry, deeply sorry. You want them to be in agony over what they did to you. -
Step 4
SERVE YOUR ENEMY WITH SMILES.
The old phrase is to kill with kindness. Now that you have sympathy and understanding for your enemy and can understand why they did what they did it is time to turn forgiveness on their head. When you forgive from the heart and serve with genuine love, it pours shame on the other person. They see what you are doing for them and know they don't deserve it. They feel two inches tall.

on 10/14/2009 Continued....
Revenge should be allowed in our castrated society! Violence as an alternative to a corrupt and one-sided judiciary system for the powerful with high connection. A reasonable amount of violence must be allowed so as to respect the natural urge to defend oneself. The way it was meant to be.

on 10/14/2009 Are we not allowed to resolve a feud with someone on a ring or something with choice of weapon anymore? The whole concept of violence free society is working for the rich and powerful mostly and you have no means to defend yourself, your dignity as a human with equal rights. Most of the time the powerless get trampled upon and that's violence condoned by the whole system which ironically rejects violence. There should be a legal court where people having contention whoever they maybe, to resolve their differences in a cage fight. The powerful get the best lawyers to defend them in today's court of "justice". That would put a new dynamic in place so that the powerful would think twice before pulling their weight around. on 7/28/2009 I was trying to delete the very last sentence I put on the reply. But it seems I can't. Oh well.
If they were truly sorry, I am definitely the type of person who would forgive them. But if they laugh at my pain, then I would want revenge to make them feel sorry for what they did.

on 7/28/2009 I wasn't talking about forgiveness. I totally believe in forgiveness.... to the people who deserve it. I was talking about letting people walk all over you. If they wronged you, and you don't do nothing about it, like this article suggests, then you allow him or her to get away with it! Not only that, you also open a door for everyone else to walk all over you too. Because they know you won't do nothing about anything, so they can do whatever they want to you.
If violence was legal, the whole world would be a MUCH better place.
