The headshots are one of the most important marketing tools you have to show your skills and open doors to find acting gigs. Having the perfect headshot while staying in your budget is a very important. A headshot needs to flex you, but not in a glamour sort of way, instead in a way that brings out your best qualities.
Here's how to find the perfect headshots photographer.

  • Wanting to break into acting.
  1. Step 1

    Check the Backstage West newspaper. Online and in print, there ads for artists and photographs that list their services. When you check these photographers out, ask to see some samples of the headshots done in the past.

  2. Step 2

    Look at the online sites to find a photographer for your headshots. While it may not be their mainstay of employment, but it doesn't mean they can't do a great job on a budget. The places to check include Craigslist and Backpage.

  3. Step 3

    Consider asking at the local acting workshops for recommendations for headshot photographers. Not only can you get some great recommendations, you may also find that a recommendation comes with a discount given to students and friends of the workshops.

  4. Step 4

    Look for recommendations from your acting agent or acting coach. These folks are deep in the entertainment business and will provide some great feedback on who to trust with your headshots.
