How to Replace a Water Pump in a Vehicle

Your water pump helps your engine to cool down when it is overheating. So today, I will be replacing a water pump. So let’s get started, just follow the steps below to continue.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    The first thing you want to do is drain the coolant.

  2. Step 2

    Remove the bolt for the water pump. While you are removing the belt, inspect all belts and replace any that needs replacement.

  3. Step 3

    Now begin to remove the bolts that hold the water pump onto the engine.

  4. Step 4

    Remove the lower radiator hose from the water pump.

  5. Step 5

    Now remove the water pump.

  6. Step 6

    Clean out the water pump housing. It may have old gasket, metal shavings etc.

  7. Step 7

    Compare the new water pump to the old one to ensure correct replacement.

  8. Step 8

    Put the bolts on the water pump first then place it on the water pump housing.

  9. Step 9

    Tighten up all bolts. Reconnect any hoses that you removed earlier. Put the belt back on. Refill the radiator with coolant and you are done.
