Instructions

    • 1

Take the comforter to the laundromat and use a large front-loading commercial washing machine to clean your comforter. Do not wash the down comforter in a home washer with an agitator.

    • 2

Use a non-bleach detergent. Some bedding manufacturers recommend using a detergent specially formulated for down.

    • 3

Run the machine on a gentle cycle.

    • 4

Dry your comforter in a commercial dryer on low heat for as long as it takes to dry. Make sure there is plenty of room for the comforter to move in the dryer. To help separate the feathers, bedding maker Plumeria Bay suggests placing a new tennis ball in a clean white sock and adding it to the dryer.

Take the comforter out of the dyer occasionally to fluff it and make sure it is not overheating.
