Things You'll Need:
- The desire to give your pet the best medical treatment you can afford
-
Step 1
A new pet will need a medical check up soon after coming into your family. It is best to find a vet before you even bring a pet home. If you have friends or family with pets, ask who they use. Find out what they like and don't like about the veterinarian and the staff.
-
Step 2
If possible, call or visit the vet office before becoming a client. Ask if you can speak to some current clients to use as references. Ask these people what they like and/ or dislike about the veterinarian.
-
Step 3
When you choose a vet, be sure that you have done your research. Prepare yourself with a couple of questions that you already know the answer to, ask these on your first visit. Be sure that the answers you are getting are what you expected. If they aren't, don't be afraid to ask the vet to explain the difference in his/her answer.
