Peruvian cuisine is a blend of European, Asian and Latin American ingredients and techniques. This traditional Peruvian salsa is light green, creamy, spicy and refreshing. It can be served as a standalone appetizer with French bread and butter or as a side dish with other Peruvian dishes. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 1/2 head medium iceberg lettuce
  • 2 to 3 peeled cloves of garlic
  • 2 to 3 green jalapeno peppers
  • 2 to 3 cups of mayonnaise
  • 1 to 2 branches of cilantro (or to taste)
  • 3 to 4 cilantro leaves (or to taste)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Blender

Instructions

    • 1

      Roughly chop the iceberg lettuce and put it in the blender. This is the secret to the Peruvian salsa.

      Slice the green jalapeno peppers and add them to the blender.

      Roughly chop the peeled garlic and add it to the blender.

    • 4

      Add the mayonnaise, the salt and the pepper to the blender.
      Mayonnaise is also one of the secret ingredients of the Peruvian salsa.

      Cover the blender a give it a few pulses, until the Peruvian salsa is well blended and reaches a creamy texture without being liquid.
