How to Make an Ambrosia Fruit Salad

Ambrosia Fruit Salad is a great, quick and easy-to-prepare dessert. Serve it any time you want something that has a "slightly sweet and tangy" taste.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 15 oz. can of fruit cocktail
  • 20 oz. can of crushed pineapple
  • 15 oz. can of orange slices
  • 4 bananas
  • 10.5 oz. bag of mini- marshmallows
  • 7 oz. bag of shredded coconut
  • 1 lb. container of sour cream (or light sour cream)
  • Basic Equipment: big mixing bowl, big stirring spoon, can opener, aluminum foil
  1. Step 1

Open all fruit cans. (Keep the juices.)

  2. Step 2

Pour fruits into the mixing bowl (one can at a time), including the juices.

  3. Step 3

Slice all bananas and add to the bowl.

  4. Step 4

Stir and mix all ingredients in the bowl so far.

  5. Step 5

Add the sour cream to the bowl and stir and mix thoroughly.

  6. Step 6

Fill the empty sour cream container with water and add to the bowl. Stir and mix thoroughly.

  7. Step 7

Add about 1/2 of the shredded coconut to the bowl and stir and mix well.
(You can add a little more if you really like shredded coconut and want your fruit salad to come out a little thicker.)

  8. Step 8

Finally, add about 3/4 of the bag of marshmallows to the bowl and stir well.
(If you really like marshmallows, add the whole bag.)

  9. Step 9

If the mixing bowl has a matching cover, cover the bowl with it. (If there is no matching cover, just cover the bowl with aluminum foil.)

  10. Step 10

Refrigerate the fruit salad for at least 4 hours or overnight.

  11. Step 11

Serve in medium-size serving bowls and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Try to finish eating all of the Ambrosia within 3-4 days before the bananas start to become too ripe.
