Psoriasis is a skin condition that causes patches of scaly and red skin to appear. It is most commonly found on the scalp, legs, arms, back and fingernails. Psoriasis is not only physically irritating, it also can cause emotional distress due to embarrassment from it’s appearance on the skin. Fortunately, it is very easy to treat psoriasis naturally to help reduce or completely remove outbreaks from your skin.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Essential fatty acids
  • Ginger
  • Zinc
  • Goldenseal extract
  1. Step 1

One of the best ways to treat psoriasis naturally is to add an oil that is high in essential fatty acids to your diet such as flaxseed oil or primrose oil. Essential fatty acids help to treat and control a variety of skin disorders including psoriasis, and help to prevent dryness of the skin.

  2. Step 2

You will also want to make sure that you are consuming adequate levels of zinc, which is essential for metabolizing protein that is necessary for your body to heal.

  3. Step 3

If you have psoriasis on your body, soaking in a warm bath with 2 teaspoons of ginger added to the bath water can help to reduce redness and swelling to diminish the appearance of psoriasis patches on your skin. If your psoriasis is on your scalp, while soaking in the tub submerse your body so that your scalp is soaking in the water as well, or use a cup to pour the water over your hair.

  4. Step 4

Another great way to reduce redness and swelling that is caused by psoriasis patches is to gently brush off any scales that have formed on your body with a loofah. Do not scrub the body with the loofah as this will only cause further irritation. Once you have exfoliated the scales with the loofah, apply a light coating of alcohol-free goldenseal extract to the afflicted areas, which will help to heal the patches.

  5. Step 5

As there is no cure for psoriasis, it is a condition which must be treated to control it. Using these natural treatments to treat psoriasis will not only help to reduce or completely remove some of the outbreaks that you experience, but it will do so in a manner that is safe and non-toxic for your body.

on 9/9/2009 I like this information. I wonder if it would also work on atopic dermatitis (eczema) on a toddler.
