Set up an account with any reputable brokerage firm, such as Charles Schwab, TD Ameritrade, E-Trade, Scott's Trade and others. For most brokers you need to deposit a minimum of $100 to be able to trade. Wait until your broker approves your bank and deposit before attempting to trade.

Log into your your broker by typing in your username and password. Enter the stock symbol "MSFT" into the ticker symbol search bar that is located on the main screen. Stocks are listed under their own symbols and it is helpful to memorize them. Write them down on a piece of paper if you are having trouble remembering them.

Click "Trade" or whatever link is designated to trade stocks for your broker. Click the radio button under "Action" that says "Buy." Enter in the number of shares that you want to buy and click the radio button next to "Market Order."

Click "Review Your Order." Refresh your screen if the asking price for the stock is not what you want. Click "Confirm Order" when you are ready to buy.
