How to Make Golf Ball Displays
Whether they are to commemorate athletic achievements such as holes-in-one or outing victories, or personal memories such as a first round with a loved one, golf balls on display can be a great souvenir of a round. This simple rack can be created with a single piece of wood, some wood stain and a few common woodworking tools.
Things You'll Need
- 1 inch thick piece of oak 6 inches wide
- Saw
- Router with bevel bit
- Sandpaper
- Wood stain
- Drill with half-inch bit
- Plaque plates, and screws or glue (optional)
- Mounting brackets, and screws (optional)

1
Decide on how many balls you will be displaying and the desired spacing. Four to 6 inches between balls and half that distance on either side of the end balls is recommended. For example: a display for three balls with 4-inch spacing would be 12 inches wide with 4 inches between balls and 2 inches of space on either side of the end balls. Cut the wood plank to the required length.

2
Carve a 45 degree bevel around the two short ends of the wood plank and around one of the long ends if the display will be wall mounted, or both ends if the display will go on a desk, by running the router and bevel bit around the edges.
-
-
3
Drill holes for your balls at the planned spacing along a line running through the center (3 inches in from both ends) of the width of the plank.
-
4
Sand the wood plank and stain it the color you want it to be.
-
5
Attach the plates, if desired, with the appropriate labels for your balls, in front of the corresponding holes, centered between the hole and the edge of the plank. The writing should be facing away from the ball, toward the edge of the plank, and the plate should be between the hole and the one beveled edge if using a wall mount.
-
6
Mount your display with wall brackets if desired, or place on a desk or dresser for a non-mounted display.
-
7
Place one ball in each hole of the display.
