      Steps 1, 2 & 6a

Place the bottom shelf on a worktable. Mark the bottom of the shelf for the axles as the manufacturer suggests. Measure the length of the shelf and cut two pieces of the 1-by-2 to that length. Apply glue to the edges of the shelf and secure the 1-by-2 material with finish nails.

    • 2

Measure the two remaining edges and cut two pieces of the 1-by-2 to that length. Apply glue to the edges of the shelf and the ends of the 1-by-2s from Step 1. Secure the shorter pieces with the finish nails.

    • 3
      2-by-2s for this one

Place the center shelf on the worktable. Apply glue to the tops of the 2-by-2s and secure them to the bottom of the shelf; one on the edges and one in the center. Next, measure and cut 1-by-2s for the center shelf in the same manner as the bottom shelf.

      Building the legs

Place the 1-by-4 lumber on the worktable. Measure from one end and make a mark halfway up. Place the carpenter's square on the marks and draw lines across the width of the lumber. Apply glue to one long edge and secure another piece to it with the finish nails. Repeat this for the rest of the lumber.

    • 5

Apply glue to the corners of the two shelves and secure the 1-by-4 assembly to them with the finish nails. Next, place the top shelf of the push cart on the 1-by-4s and secure it through the top into the 1-by-4s.

      Axle assembly

Measure and cut two pieces of 1-by-2 the length of the top shelf. Apply glue to the edges of the top and secure the 1-by-2s with the finish nails. Then do the same for the ends of the top shelf. Install the axles and wheels according to the manufacturer's instructions.
