How to Make a Mold for a PVC Figurine
PVC figurines are a popular piece of desktop ornamentation. Displaying characters from various anime series as well as original creations, often of a science-fiction or medieval-fantasy nature, the figurines can be stunning creations. By creating your own mold, you can create your own figurines of either your own design or one based on a popular character.
Things You'll Need
- Silicone rubber mix
- Plastic food container
- Petroleum jelly
- Modeling clay

Create a base model out of modeling clay, and leave to dry.

Line the inside of the plastic container with a thin layer of pe.

Mix the silicone rubber mix and pour it into the container, deep enough to submerge half of the figurine, and smooth it out.

Spread a thin layer of petroleum jelly around the front half of the model.

Press the model halfway into the silicone rubber mix, and leave to dry.

Apply a thin, smooth layer of petroleum jelly to the remaining half of the figurine and the top of the silicone rubber.

Mix a new batch of silicone rubber and pour into the plastic container until the figurine is fully submerged.

Leave to dry.

Remove the silicone rubber molds from the container, and the clay model from the silicone molds.

Tips & Warnings
You can create a mold of an existing figurine by replacing the clay model you made with the premade figurine.
