The Motorola SLVR comes equipped with a communication feature that enables you to import and export files to and from your computer. You can send ringtones, music, pictures, and other media to your phone directly from your computer. But in order to carry out this action, you must install the Motorola SLVR software driver to your computer's hard drive. This driver helps your computer identify your Motorola SLVR phone.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Download the Motorola SLVR software driver setup application. Click on the Motorola SLVR software driver download link (see Resources). Select the "Save" action when the file download box opens to save the setup application file to your computer's hard drive.

  2. Step 2

Run the Motorola SLVR setup application to begin the initial installation process. When the setup application downloading process is complete, click on the "Open" action that will appear in its file download dialog box. Your computer screen will redirect to the Motorola SLVR software driver installation wizard.

  3. Step 3

Install the software driver's files and components to your computer's hard drive. Follow the recommended prompts that will be given in the installation wizard. Click "Next" to confirm the software driver's default and recommended settings. Once you get to the third screen in the installation wizard you will be prompted to connect the USB composite device for the Motorola SLVR.

  4. Step 4

Connect the Motorola SLVR to the computer itself. Plug the Motorola SLVR's USB sync cable into the phone itself and the computer's 2.0 USB port. The computer will begin working immediately to detect the connected device. Once the connection is detected, an indication, serving as a unique identifier for the phone, will appear in the installation wizard screen. Click "Next" to confirm the phone's identity.

  5. Step 5

Choose a file destination for your software driver. The next screen in the installation wizard will display a default file location where the software driver's folder and files will be stored on your computer. You can also click "Browse" to change the file location to one you personally prefer (see Resources). Click "Next" once you have made your decision. The installation wizard will now begin copying the software driver's files and components into the folder you chose for its file location.

  6. Step 6

Conclude the installation process. The final installation wizard screen will be displayed once all of the software driver's files and components have been copied to the file location folder. Click on the "Finish" action that will appear on the last screen of the installation wizard. A small notification will appear in the lower right corner above your taskbar, indicating that the driver has been installed successfully.

Tips & Warnings
  • For a more visual interpretation of the installation process, click on the "Visual Installation Assistance" link in Resources.
  • Do not pause or abort the software driver installation process while it is in progress. This action may cause certain component errors once the installation process is complete. Once you have been prompted to connect the Motorola SLVR's USB sync cable, do not disconnect the device until the software driver installation process is complete.
