Long-term exposure to the sun can darken the color of skin. Some people prefer a darker look, but others may find a light skin tone more desirable. Whether you are trying to get rid of a tan or are just unhappy with your natural skin color, there are several ways to naturally lighten the color of your skin.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sunblock
  • Cream
  • Milk
  • Lime
  • Flour
  • Water
  • Fruit/vegetables high in Vitamin C
  • Vitamin C supplement
  1. Step 1

Apply sunblock whenever you are out in the sun, no matter the color of your current skin. The sun's rays can still soak through your clothing, so unless you have UV-repellent apparel, you should apply the sunscreen underneath your clothes, as well.

  2. Step 2

Take a bath with a concoction created for the soul purpose of lightening the skin. Try this recipe: add 3 cups of whole cream to a warm bath. Soak in the bath for 15 to 30 minutes. This will naturally and safely moisturize, nourish and lighten your skin.

  3. Step 3

Measure 2 tsp. of lime juice, 3 tsp. of milk or cream and 1 tsp. of flour for a homemade skin-lightening treatment. Mix the three ingredients together thoroughly. Apply the mixture to your face and let it sit for 15 minutes. Rinse it off with cool water. You can multiply the ingredients if you wish to cover more skin than just on your face.

  4. Step 4

Use a lotion that contains arbutin. This chemical inhibits the formation of melanin, the pigment in your skin, so your skin appears lighter after prolonged use.

  5. Step 5

Increase the amount of vitamin C you consume every day. Vitamin C promotes healthy skin and helps repair any type of skin damage. You can get vitamin C from various fruits and vegetables or take it in a vitamin supplement.
