A blackberry blended coffee drink is a refreshing treat

Blended coffee drinks, like Starbucks' Frappuccino, are refreshing treats that are easy to make with your own blender. By making the drink at home, you'll save a little money and have control over the calories in your beverage. For a sweet summer flavor, add fresh blackberries. The fruit offers health benefits, too. According to the Oregon Raspberry and Blackberry Commission, blackberries have one of the highest antioxidant levels of any fruit and they are also high in vitamin C and fiber. Instructions

    • 1

Brew the espresso or coffee. If you are making coffee, brew it twice as strong as you normally would.

    • 2

Chill the brewed coffee in the refrigerator for 5 minutes.

    • 3

Combine coffee and all other ingredients, except whipped cream and garnish blackberries, in the blender. Blend for approximately 30 seconds, or until mixture has a slush-like consistency.

    • 4

Pour the mixture into glasses. Top it with whipped cream and garnish with a few blackberries.

    • 5

Serve the blackberry frappuccino immediately with a straw.

Tips & Warnings

  • To make this drink vegan-friendly, substitute soy milk for regular milk, omit the whipped cream and use raw sugar instead of granulated sugar. Try other fruits such as raspberries, blueberries and strawberries for additional flavors.

  • Don't make blended coffee drinks in advance, or ingredients will separate.
