How to Build a Cool Web Page

The uniqueness of a Web page can be defined by a plethora of characteristics. It may be the site's vibrant colors that hold a visitor's attention, its content, or even its graphics, such as flash animation, media players or streaming video. But whatever the reason, you can learn how to build a Web page, free of charge, that has access to all of these great features, even if you do not have prior Web design experience and training.

      Open your Internet browser and click on http://www.wix.com.

      Once on the Wix homepage, create a Wix account by clicking on the orange "Login/Sign-Up" tab in the upper-right corner of the screen. Click on the "Sign-Up" tab when the pop-up data form opens. When prompted, type your information in the appropriate data forms, and click on the "Sign-Up" action.

      Choose the design template you desire for your Web page. Once your account has been created, your browser will redirect to your new account homepage. Click on the "Create" action. You can begin building your Web page by starting from scratch or customizing a pre-made template. When starting from scratch, you can click on the "Blank" thumbnail image or simply scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the blue size template you desire. To use a pre-made template, scroll through the list of templates at the top of the page by clicking on the topic links on the left side of the screen. Go through each topic until you find the template you desire to use. Once you have decided on a template, move your mouse over the template image and select the "Edit" action. The design portal will open in a pop-up window.

      Configure your Web page settings. Click on the "File" tab at the top of the screen, and select the "Settings" option. You will see a list of options and customization settings you can apply to your Web page. Alter these settings at your own discretion, to apply the customizations you desire. Click on the colored square on the right side of the settings window and choose the color you desire for your Web page's background.

      Build your Web page. Only design within the lighter region of the design platform. Anything outside of this region will not be displayed once design is complete. Click on each of the six tabs on the left side of the design portal to add design elements such as color, text, flash animation, multimedia widgets and galleries. Use the gadgets and tools that will appear in the bottom center of the design portal to customize your design elements.

      Save your template. When you are done building your Web page, click on the "Save" action at the top of the screen. You will be prompted to name your Web page. Type a name in the blank data form provided. Click on the "Save" action. (The name is not the official name of your Web page. It is simply a title for document-saving purposes.)

      Publish your Web page to the Internet.
