Stepping Stones

Stepping Stones are a great addition to any backyard. They add to the appearance of your home and are very useful. Of course they keep you out of mud puddles when it rains. They can be round or any shape you desire. This is not a week-end project, it took my husband three days to get the stones in. Apply the following instructions and I'm sure will get the same results we did.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • blueprint of your yard
  • any size stepping stones
  • shovel
  • leveling sand
  • leveling measure
  1. Step 1

Drawing a blueprint of your yard will give you a better picture of how and were you want the stepping stones. Decide what size are applicable to your needs and purchase stepping stones. Take your time they come in various sizes and shapes and also solar lighted.

  2. Step 2

This is were you actually begin digging the holes for the stepping stones. Spacing is important so make sure you space correctly you don't want the stepping stones to close or to far apart. Place the stone and mark the area to dig. Leave at least one inch of space around the stone.

  3. Step 3

After the hole is dug pour sand to level and place the stepping stone. Making sure it does not rock back and forth. Use a level to assure yourself of an even hole. Place the stepping stone and pat until firm in the ground. You may have to remove or add sand before it is leveled correctly.

Tips & Warnings
  • This project is best when done in cool weather.
  • Make certain your stepping stones are without imperfections. This will avoid any cracks later.
