In California and the Baja region, guacamole is all about the Avocado. Forget your sloppy fillers like sour cream and mayonnaise. Toss aside flavors like tomato and onion that drown out that rich avocado joy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • All you need are five ingredients: avocados, lime, salt, garlic powder and hot sauce. THAT is Guacamole!
  1. Step 1

Start with three ripe avocados. The skin will be dark green, almost black and the fruit will feel soft but not mushy when you squeeze.

  2. Step 2

With a sharp knife, cut the avocados in half and remove the pit.

  3. Step 3

With a metal soup spoon, scoop out the avocado meat into a bowl.

  4. Step 4

Grab one ripe lime. The skin should be dark green. Cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice over the avocado in the bowl. (If the avocados are small use only half the lime)

  5. Step 5

Measure our approximately ¼ teaspoon of garlic power and sprinkle into the bowl.

  6. Step 6

Measure out approximately 1/8 teaspoon salt and sprinkle in the bowl.

  7. Step 7

Grab a bottle of your favorite hot sauce and shake 4 or 5 drops in the bowl, more of you like the heat.

  8. Step 8

This is the fun part. Grab a large metal fork and smash away. Mix up all the ingredients but make sure not to do too good of a job. Leave some chunks so you have a little something to bite into.

  9. Step 9

Snag a bag of your favorite tortilla chips and dig in!
